Time. Most of us think we have an unlimited supply. Putting off ’til tomorrow what we could have done today.
But what if there is no tomorrow? Not to be a downer, since I’m usually an upper, but eventually there will come a day for each of us when we will run out of tomorrows.
When we’ve exhausted our supply of tomorrows, will we be satisfied with what we did today?
I’m not suggesting that we have to be super goal-oriented and rush through life, trying to fit in today everything that’s on our bucket list and then some. That’s just silly.
Rather, if there’s something you’ve been longing to do, why wait? Get started today.
But what if you can’t start today, due to one of the many limitations that affect most of us? Don’t let that stop you from enjoying today.
Do something small. Take a tiny, little baby step toward your dreams.
My dream is to buy, renovate, and decorate houses. It’s a big, artsy dream inside of me. I love homes. I don’t feel like I truly know a person until I’ve been in their home. And every time I’m in someone’s home (including my own), I can’t help but to start renovation plans in my head. Knock down this wall, paint this, redo that.
As a single mom with a kid in college, a full-time job, a kid at home, and all of my funds allocated to something, this is not a dream that I can realize today. But I’ve come to recognize that my home is my palette, and I can start with small projects as I can afford them. And through the magic of blogging, I can share my dreams with the world.
Not a bad small step toward a larger dream, is it?
We all have but a limited time here on this wonderous earth. Don’t wait until it’s too late, because tomorrow may never come.
But we do have today. Enjoy it to the fullest and begin to realize your dreams. Most of all, enjoy the journey.
